Letter to the editor
A letter to the editor is a text you write to a newspaper or magazine to voice your opinion about something. This “something” could be an event in the news, an issue, a political discussion, or your response to a debate being carried on by other letter writers in the newspaper.
Write clearly and concisely following the limitations usually given on the editorial page or letters-to-the-editor page. If you write too much, your letter will be either rejected or edited by the newspaper staff. Get to the point quickly, or you may also lose the reader’s interest. Your final paragraph should sum up your viewpoint in one last appeal.
Open the letter with Dear Editor and close with Yours faithfully (followed by your full name).
